School Council Remembers Last Four Fallen Burbage Heroes
On Friday November 2nd, six members of our school council joined Burbage Historical Society to remember the last four casualties of the First World War. Information was given about the four soldiers, a candle was lit for each, and a bugler played the last post in a very moving ceremony.
Throughout the Centenary Commemoration of the First World War, children from Burbage Juniors, Burbage Infants and Sketchley Hill Primary Schools have attended this small act of remembrance on each centenary of a Burbage soldier's death. This event was especially moving as, not only was it the last four soldiers to be remembered, but the candle for Private JD Adkin was lit by his Grand Niece, Liz Coley, who works at the Infant School.
Our commemorations will continue next Friday with our annual service of Remembrance at Pughe's Paddock.
